ONOFFON™ — research and development
Construction, development and implementation of ONOFFON™, projects incubation system from the Eonminu® portfolio.
During the period that spanned from 2011 to 2019, Mauro Rojas began a research and development process to test the design of an incubation system, applied to both tangible and intangible products as well as more complex systems, nurturing Eonminu® as brands laboratory and inspiring the creation of the ASOCIACIÓN DE EMPRENDEDORES DEL ECUADOR™.
The experience lived by Mauro Rojas during his trip through Turkey, in July 2010, motivated him to build an initiative with a strong social vision, taking as his axis a development perspective for the cultural industry.
As a result of this trip and, consequently, after several months of conceptual development, ONOFFON™ emerged as a socio-political hypothesis to generate a collection of artistic works. This written project was previously selected to participate in the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, in Russia, in 2011.
The creativity workshops given in Juan Montalvo got valuable graphic results by the atendees, inspiring the decision-making for the evolution of ONOFFON™.
The opportunity available to exhibit in Russia was a task that did not bear fruit, due to the very ambitious vision of the project that required big budget. However, that was a first great impulse that provoked the beginning of a sociocultural research process at first stage, with the collaboration of Alfredo Moreira and María de los Ángeles Custoja, intervening with creativity meetings in the Juan Montalvo commune.

As a consequence of this extended process, several opportunities were generated that led Mauro Rojas to exhibit the project at the Latin American Design Meeting (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2013/2015), at the FLACSO’s Arte Actual Gallery (Quito, Ecuador, 2013), also giving him the opportunity to win the Emprendedores Culturales award in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in August 2015.

ONOFFON™ made it possible to prepare fertile ground for the creation and development of products in Eonminu®, adding attributes that strengthened its essence as a Brands Laboratory, with larger disciplines that enrich the vision of this firm for the generation of economic systems.
During a second stage of social intervention carried out in 2015, in the Data de Posorja commune (Guayas Province, Ecuador), ONOFFON™ had the collaboration of the photographer Freddy Cruz and the artist Princesa de Ají, incorporating the participation of students from the EDCOM faculty of the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral.
