Design as a discipline and tool for sociocultural development

Mauro Rojas presented a conference in pitch format at the Encuentro Latinoamericano de Diseño of the Universidad de Palermo

El diseño como disciplina y herramienta para el desarrollo sociocultural is the conference/pitch given by Mauro Rojas on August 1 at DISEÑO SIN FRONTERAS, the entrepreneurship marathon at the Latin American Design Meeting of Universidad de Palermo, at its headquarters on Mario Bravo Street, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Mauro Rojas shared a short review of the process he led during August 2011 through the ONOFFON™ project, with a sociocultural research process based on his motivations at developing a renewing market dynamic, and which was possible thanks to the collaboration of colleagues María de los Ángeles Custoja and Alfredo Moreira, experts in cultural heritage research and community development.

Mauro Rojas observed the rural sector as a great opportunity to explore the primary needs of communities in Ecuador and to understand how regions with such a rich history end up in spiritual/productive sterility.

This was a great opportunity to exchange experiences with other creators who were part of the meeting, which featured a series of diverse entrepreneurship proposals based on design and its multiple fronts.

This participation allowed us to measure the impact and acceptance that ONOFFON™ can achieve on an international scale, a crucial observation considering that the inspiration to build this process was born during Mauro Rojas' participation in a cultural heritage residency in Alanya, Turkey, an experience that motivated him to build a model to generate economic development, taking advantage of cultural wealth.
