Al-Khemia is one of the first products developed from ONOFFON™, the Eonminu® incubator for social development projects, created to promote the creative industry, with archaeological inspiration as essential axis, which sociocultural research began in 2011, through the art-therapy and plastic creativity workshops in the Juan Montalvo Commune.

This development included lettering to illustrate the name of the play, costumes design, poster design, props creation, and composition of choreography.

Mauro Rojas invited Tamara Ortega, better known as Princesa de Ají, to be part of Al-Khemia by performing on stage, being one of the few performing artists in Guayaquil that connects with Ecuadorian ancestry in her production, fitting perfectly with the Al-Khemia's character.

The creative process was meticulously taken care of, implementing improvisation sessions in natural spaces under the direction of Mauro Rojas, sessions that allowed Princesa de Ají to develop the spirit of the character of Al-Khemia with natural criteria.

We took advantage of natural spaces in Guayaquil to carry out rehearsal sessions, aimed at choreographic creation and character development.

Below we share the reflections by Princesa de Ají during the creative process implemented for the development of the concept, the creation of the character, and the choreographic composition in Al-Khemia:

Princesa de Ají was actively involved in the production, also collaborating in the creation of costumes and props, designed in Eonminu® by taking the inputs generated from the ONOFFON™ project.

Al-Khemia was very well received by the public of the Almanaque de Cuerpos meeting at the Nahim Isaías Museum, and generated very positive reviews from experts in various artistic disciplines.

The photographs of Al-Khemia were taken by Jorge Luis Gaibor and Sally Clark, during rehearsal sessions and on stage respectively, at the Nahim Isaías Museum.

In addition to this good reception, we consider that Al-Khemia is a very valuable piece that enriches the portfolio of Eonminu® through its commitment to ONOFFON™, implemented as an experimental incubator for the value creation for the market enhancing the creative industry.

The collaboration of Yelena Intriago during the preparations for the staging was vital to the success of the presentation at the museum. We highlight the great work of Jorge Luis Gaibor, who carried out a photo session for the reharsal sesions; and the photography by Sally Clark during the premiere.

The notable acceptance that Al-Khemia achieved, provoked to be invited to participate in a special session of independent artists at Teatro de la Casa de la Cultura Núcleo del Guayas in June this year, as part of a program included in the Fragmentos de Junio festival.
