CÍRCULO DE PODER is a ritual dance performance created and executed by dancers Carolina Pepper and Verónica Moreira, prepared to pay tribute to the Danish archaeologist Olaf Holm, during the relaunch of his research notebooks on the ancient civilizations Manteño-Guancavilca, Milagro-Quevedo, and the ancestral architecture of Ecuador.

CÍRCULO DE PODER was presented in the lobby of the Museo Antropológico y de Arte Contemporáneo (MAAC) of Guayaquil, last Friday, September 17.

After 20 years, the Regional Cultural Directorate of the Central Bank of Ecuador reissued three fundamental publications for the dissemination of Ecuadorian cultural heritage. These pamphlets, written by Olaf Holm, founding director of the Anthropological Museum of the Central Bank of Ecuador, were part of a valuable series of twelve publications made in the eighties of the 20th century.

One of the texts shown by the creators of this event, is quoted below:

The myth of creation for the people of the coast does not begin in the void but in the sea, which is defined as the Sacred Placenta, from here the first tree and the figure of Pillallau are born, a being with the head of a puma and the body of a Condor. This god tears the bark of the tree and the sap spills into the bubbling sea, at the same time the moon spreads its light, the tree shakes, shakes, and drops its seed or seed: the first human being.
