Zancudo Cocha
Visual identity and editorial design for Zancudo Cocha archaeological program
Archaeologist Amelia Sánchez commissioned Eonminu® to develop the communication material and visual identity for the Zancudo Cocha archaeological program, a scientific research project and excavation program carried out in the province of Napo, Ecuador, prior to the construction of the Tena Airport.
The archaeological intervention, performed in the area of a lagoon, had various nuances that inspired the creation of symbologies based on its attributes.
The isotype, created to symbolize the flow of water forming the perimeter of a lake, generated from its shape the creation of iconography, concept that was applied on the iconographic components created for the entire report; from this point, the logotype was designed handwritten.
The system of symbols, generated from scattered features of artifacts obtained from the archaeological excavations, was implemented as iconographic orientation for use in the stratigraphic table.

The color system, as well as the fonts used, were unified to generate its own style in the communication of the program, with a graphic unity evident in all the components of the report.
The report has special treatment in the scientific tables, highlighting the stratigraphic table with its iconography.
The tables were treated independently according to the information managed, highlighting the content of scientific interest and without losing connection with the visual style of the layout.
The commitment of this commission was to give functional order to the structure of the report through standardization of the design.
Unlike the Programa de Rescate Arqueológico of PMB, this commission was completely focused towards the formal completion of the report, giving priority to the structure of the scientific content and not so much to promoting it.
