Creation and development of the PALABRA performance play by Mauro Rojas

PALABRA is a performance art piece by Mauro Rojas, on stage during a three-week season at MicroteatroGYE, in September and October, and at the Festival Sonido y Movimiento of ESPOL, last week.

Mauro Rojas premiered the performance PALABRA in one of the MicroteatroGYE rooms, in September.

The story immerses the spectators in an 8-minute episode of mental density of David, the protagonist, who maintains a proto-mental story with an invisible witness, confessing his disappointments, memories and longings for clarity, interrupted by the flavour of his shadows, showing himself trapped in an imaginary bubble assumed as a blank book, without daring to write a rebirth.

The scenery and props illustrate the character's psychic universe, packed of mental complexity. PALABRA generated a quite strong impact on several of the spectators who attended the presentations in the MicroteatroGYE rooms.

The production of PALABRA was comprehensive, developing the script, the psychological aspects of the character and his story, composing the choreography and designing the costumes, props and scenery.

The promotional video for PALABRA was possible thanks to the cooperation of the MicroteatroGYE production team.

The interaction with the audience has a twist in this story, who become inhabitants in the protagonist's mental universe.

Mauro Rojas was invited to participate in the Festival Sonido y Movimiento at ESPOL with three functions, achieving an interesting exchange with spectators who were interested in knowing the inner world of the character in the story.

The production of PALABRA had several collaborators who contributed impeccably, especially in the photography, both those taken in open spaces to promote the play and those generated in the assembly space.

The photography sessions were carried out by Enrique Ordeñana, Yelena Intriago, and Freddy Cruz. Yelena Intriago and Freddy Cruz also were part of the production assistance during the presentations at MicroteatroGYE.
