The premiere of Río de Piedras, a contemporary dance piece by Max Foster, closed a series of dance and theatre workshops held at the Centro Cultural Sarao last week in March.

The cast of Río de Piedras included outstanding figures of contemporary dance in Guayaquil.

The cast of Río de Piedras was made up of Sarao dancers: Cindy Cantos and Max Foster, along with the independent dancers Carolina Pepper, Jenny Carvajal, and Fernando Rodríguez. The composition of the choreography, as well as the mastery of the contact technique by the performers, were the top of the night.

Mauro Rojas made a photo essay of this presentation for Eonminu® photograph record, a project that is following the autonomous art production in Ecuador.

The corporeal design at key points of the choreography, generating trees and water currents from the danced interpretation, executed with impeccable skill, made this work stand out as the closing with a flourish of a night that finished a stage of intensive performing workshops.

This artistic meeting was strengthened thanks to a varied program, showing the results of the dance and theater workshops, and including the participation of local artists with great performing career, such as Zully Guamán and other guest artists.

This essay nourishes the historical record made in Eonminu®, generating a memory of the independent art production in Ecuador, to promote market development around the creative and cultural industries.
