El ferrocarril en la vida de mi pueblo
Poster design and editorial development for the event 'El ferrocarril en la vida de mi pueblo'
Officers from the Ministerio de Cultura y Patrimonio del Ecuador organized El ferrocarril en la vida de mi pueblo, community event to commemorate educational contests coordinated together with public elementary schools, for promoting the social connection generated by the passage of the railway throughout five cantons of Guayas Province.
Eonminu® was commissioned to design the poster and the illustrated album to promote these educational meetings.
The first piece designed was the poster, which officially opened the creative meetings, activated in public elementary schools in the cantons of Bucay, Naranjito, Milagro, Yaguachi and Durán.
The informal and spontaneous graphic aspect was developed extensively, including the title of the book.
The album was illustrated completely from scratch: backgrounds, characters, elements, lettering, integrating traditional processes and digital techniques, to achieve a collage finish with an unprecedented and singular graphic style.
The graphic development of the illustrated album took as inspiration the artworks created by the children who participated in the painting contests, one of the conditions suggested to develop this publication; graphics with great visual richness were achieved, so the children's artworks were included as a tribute in the introductory pages.
A series of characters were created to energize the narration of the illustrated album
To achieve identification with the audience to whom this product is targeted, two children's characters were incorporated, protagonists who narrate the story included in the album.
The historical factor was highlighted by incorporating the figure of Eloy Alfaro and Gabriel García Moreno in the series of characters created for the album, who during their respective public exercises in the presidency of Ecuador gave impetus to the construction and operation of the great Ecuadorian railway project.
Highlighting each of the five cantons was one of the premises, where the main characters act as spokespersons for the people, intervening in the narrative as vital actors in the cultural dynamics. The illustrated album remarks the social importance of the railway by connecting five cantons in Guayas Province.
The album closes with a special section, mentioning each of the boys and girls who won in the various categories of the painting contests, organized with the elementary schools representatives from the cantons included in this program.
